Phillip Ratley | President & CEO
Phillip has a practical, down-to-earth “roll up your sleeves and get it done” approach. He sees each job not just as a project, but an opportunity to help clients build their hopes and dreams, making him unique within the construction industry. Known as a problem solver with a creative mind, Phillip’s 40 years of experience gives him a depth of insight that allows him to see solutions where others only see issues. He believes “no” is not an option and is willing to do what it takes to find a way. His focus is on building a team that pays attention to every detail and that values growing client relationships that go far beyond bricks and mortar. Away from the office, Phillip enjoys quiet days at home, beach trips and occasional golf outings.
Kara Ratley | Treasurer
Kara has operated on the periphery of the construction industry since she married Philip in 1991; after the empty nest became a reality, she decided to formally enter the workforce alongside her husband, where she serves as Corporate Secretary/Treasurer. She loves spending time with her family and enjoying sand and surf in her spare time.
William Ratley | Director of Quality & Lean Operations
William graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in International and Comparative Politics. Before attending ASU, he played two years of college football as an offensive lineman at Campbell University. Growing up around the construction industry as Philip’s son, William started at Sela Building upon graduation and has spent the last five years learning the construction business. Outside of work, William enjoys hiking/backpacking trips, flying and being in nature.
Robin Hiatt | Contract Administrator
Robin possesses a quick mind for details that has been sharpened over seven years of experience in the construction industry. She joined Sela Building after working with her family’s business, bringing with her a strong appreciation of the value of hard work, dedication and passion. She enjoys slow days with family, friends and toes in the sand.
Chad Hylland | Project Manager
Chad is guided by one, driving principle -- integrity. As a licensed general contractor with over 23 years of construction experience, it is what allows him to build strong partnerships with clients and to grow relationships with them that go beyond the job site. Chad’s goal is to serve the client’s interests as if it were his own so they have confidence that their best plans will become their ultimate reality. When he’s not on the job, he enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor activities.
Daniel Wiggins | Project Coordinator
Daniel hails from Viriginia where he spent most of his childhood and adult life. Before joining the Sela team in 2023, Daniel served as a worship pastor for 5 years. This provides him with a unique skill set to bring to Sela. His greatest qualities are his integrity, flexibility and positivity. In his free time, he enjoys going to the beach, watching sports and hanging out with his family.
Taylor Wiggins | Administrative Specialist
Taylor graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Christan Studies with a minor in Business Administration. She then received her Master's in Intercultural Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She also grew up in the construction industry as Phillip's daughter. She spent years in church ministry helping develop systems to streamline processes, manage budgets, finances and volunteers. Along with her skills and personal values, this will result in a great asset for the Sela Team. She enjoys to hang out with her family and her husky, Selah.
